01 THE MESSAGE
Worship Him All Ye Gods
We give God the praise for another month He has qualified us to be part of, and by the grace of God, our series for this month is "ALL THINGS NEW." The first part of this series is titled "Worship Him All Ye Gods," and that is taken precisely from verse 7 of Psalm 97.
When the Bible told us to worship Him all ye gods, the first question that came to mind is, who are gods and what are gods? Why does the psalmist emphasize that God must be worshiped by all gods?
And I believe that is because of His sovereignty that has no match, that is because all things are under His feet. Isaiah 66:1 says, "Heaven is my throne and the earth is my footstool." Also, He must be worshiped by all gods because He is a jealous God and will not share His glory with another, because through your worship, there will be preservation of soul.
So who are gods and what are gods? I believe the first thing we would like to say is the idols that are worshiped, who have eyes but could not see, who have nose but could not smell, who have hands but could not move, and who have mouth but could not speak.
The book of Psalm 115 defines them well, as they are helpless and cannot offer protection to those who worship them. And that is why even though these idols are gods in the eyes of those who God forsook to remain dormant in their reprobate mind, we sure do know that they are not a match to the Most High and the true God who goes by the name Yah. Hallelujah!
And bringing it forward, there are gods who are not idols or figurines, but one way or the other we are worshiping them, just like money, fame, wealth, pride, and the like. And because the true God must not have a comparison, hence the reason He will not share His glory with all these things that are petty, much vanity, but we sometimes place them in the place of God and above God.
And lastly, you and I also are gods created to have dominion over what the true God created. And we could see in the word of God in Exodus 7 verse 1 when God made Moses a god before Pharaoh, and also in the book of Psalm 82 verse 6, it clearly states that we are gods.
However, the word of God added that we are the children of the Most High. That second phrase is what we do not cling to, but the first. That first says we are gods. This has made many people to believe in themselves instead of believing in the true God.
Hence the reason many worship self. They believe their strength, wisdom, and whatever the true God has given them the ability to do is by their own power, so they made themselves to be gods and want to be worshiped by men and everything like them.
Some will even go extra miles for additional power so that they may oppress men like them and they do not recognize God as the Great One above all. This was the case study of Herod in the book of Acts 12:21-23, who gave an oration and was applauded, but instead of worshiping the God of heaven by giving glory to Him, Herod believed he is a god. Truly, the true God dealt with him.
And that is why worshiping the Most High God is essential irrespective of the domain you control or the power you wield, because if God did not release it to you there is no way you can operate in that which you are boasting of.
And that is why one thing is for certain to those who want to stay in the position of Yahweh: they always end up in shame (1 Kings 18:26-29). Those who serve carved images, those who make vanity their gods, those who made themselves a god and did not acknowledge the Great God by worshiping Him as expected.
So this message this morning is a reminder to those who have been doing the needful not to stop worshiping the true living God, and also a wake-up call to those who believe in gods who cannot save themselves as their gods, so that they forsake vain worship and seek the true God.
For the only God who reigns in power and strength and might is God. He is surrounded by clouds and darkness, and righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. The God whose fire that goes before Him burns up anyone who wants to see itself as a rival round about. The One whom the heaven declares His righteousness, whose lightnings light the world and the earth sees and trembles. The God that the mountains melt like wax at His presence, whose glory is revealed to us in the things He created.
These alone are some of the reasons why He must be worshiped irrespective of what you wield, carry as power, because no power or person or gods can match His greatness. The Bible says He is very great and His greatness is unsearchable.
Beloved, nothing must make you forget that God must be worshiped all the time. Perhaps you want to ask, why must you worship God above all gods all the time? The straightforward answer to that is because He is exalted far above all gods.
That said, it does not matter the height you want to take yourself as a god or take your gods to. They can never be exalted to His height. The book of Psalm 46 verse 10 says, "I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
And you must know that anything that serves as an object of worship will one day bow before the true God. And that is why it is a grave offense against the Lord, the type that will end in shame should we choose to practice making ourselves gods or worship idol gods or whatever we make gods in our lives.
So it is going to be an act of foolishness to worship gods that are not gods, that cannot preserve, that cannot deliver out of the hand of the wicked, that have no everlasting throne, that cannot make all things new.
Beloved, as you go this month, increase the pace of your worship this month towards the One who sits upon the throne. Raise your altar of worship to Him. Let Him know He is God over your life. Let the little gods know that they may be gods in their jurisdiction, but they are no match to the true and living God in your life.
Tell them they cannot lord it over you because God alone must be worshiped in all things. The other gods cannot make all things new, but our God can, and that is why our worship must go all the way to the One who has what it takes to make all things new for us. Amen!
